Job description: Description :As a Software Engineer at Brown and Caldwell, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and
maintaining software solutions that enable effective data acquisition, data integration, data visualization, machine
learning, and human machine interfaces. We are using modern technology to transform the way that water is managed
across the country. Your work will directly impact our ability to build digital solutions that ensure a future of clean
water, thriving communities, and environmental protection.Basic Qualifications:
- Two years of working experience developing software in a professional environment
- Strong work ethic and detail-oriented
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Experience with software version control (git)
- Ability to write working code in Python
- Ability to query databases with SQL
- Experience conducting software testing, software releases, documentation, and providing ongoing support
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or equivalent
(Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems or other Engineering with minor in Computer Science)Preferred Qualifications:Any of the following will help candidates stand out:
- Proficiency with any of the following: Bash, C, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or R
- Experience with Linux and Docker
- Experience with cloud computing (Azure but AWS or GCP is acceptable)
- Experience working with databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or others)
- Experience working with APIs (REST, grpc, GraphQL, SOAP)
- Experience using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) platforms like GitHub Actions
- Experience developing unit and regression tests
- Experience with Agile software development practices such as user stories, backlog refinement and sprint planning
- Interest/Experience in the water industry or environmental engineering
- Interest/Experience with geospatial analysis, analytics, data science or machine learning
- Interest/Experience with sensors, internet of things (IoT), or embedded systems
- Interest/Experience in frontend development or data visualization
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.Location A: $70,000 – $95,000
Location B: $77,000 – $103,000
