Job description: SUMMARYThe position is part of the product engineering team developing the AC compressors. Current compressor product teams are developing and producing a product portfolio consisting of fixed and variable displacement mechanical drive compressors and electric drive compressors.Electrical Engineer to support Compressor Product Engineering Group in the development of automotive air conditioning compressor designs for global customer vehicle applications. This position requires a hands-on individual who will be expected to participate in all aspects of the product development process including product design, component selection, prototype builds, prototype testing, and test data analysis.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWork within the MAHLE Compressor Product Development team to advance product development and customer launch activities.Designing and developing electric drive AC compressor electrical components including all aspects of motor drive electronics HW architecture and designAssist with preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samples and coordination of test programs.Developing and authoring engineering specifications for components and assemblies to be used in manufacturing facilities to mass-produce compressor components and assemblies.Creative, diagnostic, and innovative problem solving as applied to engineering problems.Utilize DFMEA/PFMEA processes to provide a robust design prior to mass production.Blueprint reading and interpretation & specification of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Assist with preparation and execution of test units.Analyze test data and organize results relative to internal or customer specifications with observations and conclusions.Apply engineering practices to reach design solutions.Participate in innovation, product cost and quality improvement initiatives.Participate in cross-functional teams related to customer program launch activity.Work with suppliers and manufacturing plants to insure product design for high value and manufacturability.QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering is required; Masters degree is a plusMinimum 3 years of experience in development of electrical components and/or power electronics is required; 5+ years of experience is preferredUnderstanding of Principles of thermodynamics and engineering design is preferredAutomotive/Residential/Commercial Air Conditioning compressor development experience is a plusComputer skills including Microsoft OfficeGood interpersonal skillsGood written and oral skills – ability to convey technical conceptsAbility to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projectsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentGood results orientation and strong work ethicSalary: 80,000-120,000Do you have any questions?[email protected]USFacts about the jobBenefits: Benefits-US/CH_CN_DI_IB_LI_MA_MP_MW_OB_PHEntry level: Experienced hiresPart- / Full-time: Full TimeFunctional area: R&D – Electronics incl. software developmentDepartment: BU4 Electronics & MechatronicsLocation:Lockport, NY, USCompany: MAHLE Manufa.Mgmt (US)Closing date for applications
