As a Material Handler I, you will be part of a daring team, providing exceptional support to help scientists achieve groundbreaking results.Starting pay is $19.50/hr + bonus eligibility and competitive benefitsShift InformationMonday-Friday – First Shift (start times between 7am & 8am, end between 4:30-5:30pm, based on hours needed) (overtime as needed)How will you make an impact?
- Provide shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services for finished goods, inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment at the assigned facility.
- Support the distribution team in meeting strict timelines and ensuring the flawless delivery of products to customers.
What will you do?
- Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and accurately process items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
- Maintain a high level of quality to ensure customers receive accurate products within the requested timeframe.
- Receive materials and/or finished goods daily, verifying quality, type, and quantity against documentation.
- Operate safely in a warehouse environment under various temperatures, from room temperature to cold-room and freezer-room conditions.
- Successfully implement and complete Thermo Fisher Scientific training requirements, adhering to all ISO standards related to site distribution.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 0-2 years of related experience.
- Experience in logistics with a life science company preferred.
- Proven ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions independently.
- Competence in operating powered industrial trucks at various heights.
- Basic digital literacy to navigate ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and shipping software.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to recognize deviations from accepted practices.
- Accuracy in performing all functions; errors could cause schedule delays.
- Punctuality and strong attendance performance.
- Ability to follow general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments.
- Equipment training provided through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training, and Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Standard Training Protocol.
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Highly repetitive work involving continuous walking, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Routine pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs, regularly climbing ladders.
- Occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Handling of “packaged” hazardous materials.
- Moderate to high noise levels.
- Flexibility for varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.
- Occasional local travel between facilities (2-3 miles).
- Potential requirement to drive site vehicles and acquire DOT Medical Certification.
