Job description: One of my best clients, a leading manufacturer of precision CNC manufacturing cutting tools, is looking for a Applications Engineer.A bit about the company:For over 40 years, they have been a leading producer of cutting machine tools worldwide, making top-of-the-line CNC machines, 5-axis, etc. You definitely have heard of them. With operations nationally and internationally, they are recession durable. This is a long-term opportunity to grow with a leading global, stable, structured company. Those looking to build their skills with real-world experience in the field.The Job 60-70% travel in Cleveland Ohio, often within an hour but it can be 2-3 hour drives as needed, occassional to Dayton or Erie PA, company car: Likely home most nights and weekends.
- Applications Engineers travel Weekly, installs, and maintain great relationships with customers.
- Factory Application Engineers deliver tailored customer consultations and guidance. Basis for long-term relationships.
- Provide technical support in person or over the phone for customers, sales, and trade shows for CNC Machines.
- Design and fabricate fixtures/ work holding for demos, test cuts, and turnkeys.
- Define and troubleshoot complex manufacturing/machining processes.
- Conduct time estimates for customer parts with a 10% tolerance.
- Complete time studies, test cuts, and machine demonstrations per customer requirements.
- Participate in training activities with senior colleagues, internal academy, and external resources.
- Compile fixtures/ work holding for demos, test cuts, and turnkeys. Conduct time estimates for customer parts. Calculation of optimal speeds and feeds for part processing.
- Generate CNC programs for parts processing, programming, industry-standard CAM systems, and direct G-Code/ Macro programming.
- Set up CNC machines with program, tooling, workpiece, and fixtures, including 5-axis and mill-turn. Set up and program a CMM.
- Inspection of finished parts for quality and accuracy. Generate engineering reports and technical documentation. Frequent communication with internal technical staff, external customers, and external suppliers.
Credentials desired:
- 5+ years Hands on CNC machining competence required. Knowledge of programming is needed but it isnt a programming role.
- Degrees can help like a Manufacturing Engineer: Time Studies experience required. Must be able to proof out a part.
- Knowledge in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, reading drawings, and machine setup. Basic understanding of Metallurgy.
- Proven experience in communicating professionally with internal and external customers.
