Job description: HEadquartered in San Fransisco, My client is a global design and architecture firm.They are seeking a talented Architect in Life Sciences to join their dynamic team and contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge facilities and environments that support their scientific endeavors.Job Summary: The Architect in Life Sciences will be responsible for designing and overseeing the construction and renovation of laboratories, research facilities, and other specialized environments within the life sciences sector. This role requires a deep understanding of both architectural principles and the unique requirements of life sciences facilities, including compliance with industry standards and regulations.Key Responsibilities:Design and Planning:
- Develop architectural designs and plans for new construction and renovation projects in the life sciences sector.
- Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional and innovative designs.
- Ensure that designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for safety, sustainability, and functionality.
Project Management:
- Oversee all phases of the architectural process, from initial concept through completion, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Technical Expertise:
- Apply knowledge of life sciences-specific requirements, such as biosafety levels, cleanroom standards, and laboratory workflows, to architectural designs.
- Stay current with advancements in life sciences research and technology to incorporate the latest innovations into facility designs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure construction work aligns with design intent and quality standards.
- Address any issues or discrepancies that arise during the construction process promptly and effectively.
- Ensure that all projects meet regulatory compliance and safety standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with internal teams, including scientists, engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project integration.
- Communicate design concepts, project updates, and technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Professional licensure as an architect (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in architectural design, preferably within the life sciences sector.
- Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.
- Strong understanding of life sciences facility requirements, including biosafety levels, cleanroom standards, and laboratory design.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
